Lots of reasons to feel positive. Yet, it’s hard to miss the parallel of post-industrial disenfranchisement for elders, women, poor people, and young people.

At some point, simple demographics may force employers to learn how to attract and effectively manage a diverse workforce. Dr. Jay Finkelman, for example, states that the retail and service industries already find hiring older workers appealing, due to their relative stability as employees:
